Privacy Policy - OBD2 Scanner
Last updated: February 4, 2026
Your privacy is our priority. This privacy policy describes how the OBD2 Scanner app handles information.
In short: We do not collect personal data, but we do collect basic technical data via Crashlytics to improve the app's stability and quality.
1. Data Collection and Use
OBD2 Scanner only collects basic technical data to improve app stability.
- We do not collect personal data: We do not request your name, email, phone number, or location.
- Crashlytics: We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect technical crash information (e.g. error logs, app version, device model, and Android version) in order to fix bugs and improve the app.
- No cloud database: The app works in a standalone (offline-capable) manner.
2. How Technical Data Is Processed
The app works as a client interface for your Speeduino ECU hardware.
- Direct communication: All communication happens via the TCP/IP protocol directly between your Android device and your Speeduino ECU.
- ECU data: The app reads and writes technical parameters (VE Tables, Ignition Tables, AFR Map, and Live Data such as RPM/Load). This data travels exclusively within your local network (WiFi/Hotspot) and is never transmitted to our servers or to third parties.
- Persistence: Connection settings (such as the ECU's IP address) and table definitions are stored only in your device's local storage for the app to function, and can be erased at any time by clearing the app's data in Android settings. ECU data collected during a session (such as Live Data readings) stays only in memory while the app is in use and is automatically discarded when the app is closed.
3. Device Permissions
For the app to perform its technical function of managing the ECU, we only request the permissions that are strictly necessary:
- Network/Internet Access (INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): Required exclusively to establish a TCP (socket) connection with the Speeduino hardware. We do not use this permission to browse the web or send data to the cloud.
4. Security
The security of the communication depends on your local network configuration. Since the app uses the standard TCP/IP protocol to communicate with Speeduino firmware (supported versions 2016 to 2025+), we recommend using a secure WiFi network when connecting to the device.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy occasionally to reflect changes to the app (such as new autotune features or support for new firmwares). The most current version will always be available on this page or within the app.
6. Contact
